Brand and Messaging
Brand promise: Modern, confident, India-native hospitality software that treats operators like adults — not a vendor that talks down to you in cliché-laden marketing copy.
1. Brand essence
| Element | Definition |
|---|---|
| Brand promise | Run your entire property — one platform, one login, one bill. |
| Brand personality | Confident, candid, calm. Like a great GM, not like a software salesperson. |
| Tone of voice | Direct, plain, knowledgeable, occasionally dry-humoured. We don't shout. |
| Tagline | "All of hospitality, one platform." (also valid: "Hospitality OS for India.") |
| Sub-tagline (B2B) | "Built for India. Designed for owners." |
| Vibe | Premium-without-fussy. Think IndiGo of software — operational excellence without theatrics. |
2. Brand pillars (the 4 we always come back to)
- Unified — one platform, six modules, zero swivel-chair
- Indian-native — GST, DPDPA, UPI, Hindi, Tamil, all built-in
- Modern — mobile-first, AI-assisted, beautiful
- Open — APIs everywhere, integrate anything, own your data
Every piece of content, every demo, every ad should ladder up to at least one of these four pillars.
3. Visual identity
See [[design-system]] skill and the canonical brand book in
hmp-web-dashboard (Midnight Sovereign palette + Satoshi typography). Key
elements:
| Element | Reference |
|---|---|
| Primary colours | Midnight Sovereign navy #0B1530, deep gold #C9A14A, off-white #F4F1E8 |
| Accent colours | Brass #B08D2E, ink black #0B0F1A, soft cream #FAF6EC |
| Typography | Satoshi Variable (300-900). Display weight for hero, regular for body. |
| Logo | Wordmark KeyNova in Satoshi 700; brass-on-navy primary, navy-on-cream inverse |
| Imagery | Editorial photography — real Indian properties, real staff, real guests. No clichéd stock. |
| Iconography | Phosphor or Lucide icon library, brass accent on hover |
| UI language | Hybrid dark header (Midnight Sovereign) + light content; KPI cards designed for navy |
4. Voice and tone — examples
What we sound like vs what we don't

| "Your data lives in Mumbai. Always." | "Enterprise-grade secure cloud infrastructure" |
| "Migrating from eZee takes 12 days. We've done it 30 times." | "Seamless migration journey customized to your needs" |
| "Our pricing is on this page. There is no hidden tier." | "Contact us for personalized pricing tailored to your business" |

6. Messaging by audience
For owners / founders
Lead with: time saved, cash flow visibility, vendor consolidation, compliance peace-of-mind
Sample line: "Run your property the way you'd run it if it were 2026, not 2010. One vendor, one login, one bill. GST e-invoice ready. Hindi UI for your staff. Mobile app for you."
For GMs
Lead with: daily operational simplicity, staff productivity, real-time visibility
Sample line: "Your team will adopt this in a week. Your housekeeping app speaks Hindi. Your F&B integrates with your front desk. Your dashboard tells you, in real time, what's happening across the property."
For revenue managers
Lead with: AI-assisted rate decisions, OTA parity, demand forecasting
Sample line: "Rate decisions backed by demand forecasting, OTA parity monitoring, and competitor rate scanning. AI-suggested, you approve. Your DOR's morning is now 30 minutes shorter."
For IT directors
Lead with: cloud architecture, API openness, security posture, compliance
Sample line: "Cloud-native on AWS Mumbai. SOC 2 Type 1, ISO 27001 in flight. DPDPA-compliant by default. Open REST + webhooks for every entity. Single sign-on, role-based access, audit trail. Your audit team will thank you."
For F&B managers
Lead with: POS speed, KOT/KDS workflow, aggregator integration
Sample line: "Modern POS that handles peak Saturday rush without crashing. KOT to KDS in milliseconds. Zomato + Swiggy orders into the same queue. GST e-invoice for sit-down meals. Recipe-costing and food-cost reports."
For homestay / PG owners (PLG)
Lead with: simplicity, mobile-first, channel manager, low price
Sample line: "₹2,499 a month. Run your homestay from your phone. MakeMyTrip + Booking.com + Airbnb in one screen. WhatsApp guests directly. UPI rent collection. Done."
For consultants
Lead with: open API, multi-property fit, brand-customisation, your client's outcomes
Sample line: "When you recommend KeyNova, your client's operations get measurably better and you get visibility into the platform powering them. Open API, customisable receipts, multi-property reporting — all standard."
7. Web copy patterns
Homepage hero pattern
H1: [Bold benefit statement]
H2: [Specific proof or differentiator]
CTA: [Primary action] + [Secondary action]
Hero: [Real product screenshot, not stock]
Example:
H1: Run your property on one platform, not six. H2: PMS, POS, channel, payments, banquet, spa — built in India for India. CTA: [See a demo] [Start free trial]
Pricing page pattern
- Three tiers visible (not "contact us" for everything)
- One sentence each on who it's for
- Feature list in plain English (no jargon)
- "Compare full feature set" link
- ROI calculator embedded
- FAQ section addressing common objections
Landing page pattern (campaign)
- Hero benefit
- 3-bullet proof
- 1 customer quote with photo
- ROI / TCO calculator
- Risk reversal (free trial / migration commitment)
- Soft CTA + hard CTA
8. Email copy patterns
Subject lines — do
- Plain, specific, urgent if true
- ≤ 50 characters
- Numbers and specifics
- Examples: "GST e-invoice mandate hits ₹20Cr in 90 days", "How [hotel] cut reconciliation by 22 hours/week"
Subject lines — don't
- Clickbait, urgency manufactured
- ALL CAPS
- Excessive emojis 🎉🚀💯
- Examples to avoid: "🚀 GAME-CHANGING news!", "You won't believe this"
Email body — pattern
Hi [first name],
[One specific reason you're emailing them]
[The hook — fact, stat, or question]
[Two-line value prop tied to their context]
[Single clear CTA, one link, calendar or doc]
Best,
[Name]
[Phone — for warm leads, drop the phone]
9. Voice rules for social
LinkedIn (B2B)
- 1st-person OK, professional, specific
- Numbers, stories, customer quotes
- 1 post/day from company; 1 post/week from each exec
- Engagement: reply to every comment in 24h
Twitter/X
- Sharp, opinion-led, occasional dry humour
- 3-4 posts/week from CEO + CMO
- Comment on industry news same-day
- Don't be the company that auto-RTs
Instagram
- Editorial photography of real properties + behind-the-scenes
- Founder stories, customer features, product GIFs
- 2-3 posts/week + Stories most days
- Reels for short tutorials
YouTube
- Long-form tutorials + thought leadership
- Production quality matters; consistent thumbnails
- Series-based ("Front Desk Friday", "Owner Office Hours")
10. Naming conventions
| Element | Convention | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Product modules | Functional names | "Channel Manager", "POS", "Revenue Strategy" |
| Internal codenames | India-themed for fun | "Operation Mumbai", "Project Brahmaputra" |
| Feature names | Plain English | "Multi-property Reports", not "InsightsX" |
| Events | KeyNova-prefixed | "KeyNova Summit", "KeyNova Forward", "KeyNova Index" |
| Customer awards | Hospitality-themed | "Pinnacle Award", "Front Office Excellence" |
11. The "no" list — things we won't do
- No founder hagiography in copy (no "visionary founder" sentences)
- No PR-rewritten quotes — customer quotes are real or we don't use them
- No comparison-bashing competitors by name in public collateral (we name them in 1:1 sales conversation, never in ads)
- No fake urgency ("Limited offer!", "Only 3 spots left!")
- No "synergy" speak at any level of copy
- No stock photos of "diverse business people in suits"
- No clichéd hospitality stock (woman in saree holding tray of garlands)
- No competitor logos in our ads without legal sign-off and factual basis
12. Crisis messaging readiness
For when things go wrong:
| Crisis type | Tone | Lead time |
|---|---|---|
| Customer outage | Calm, factual, action-oriented | Within 15 min on status page; 1h full statement |
| Security incident | Transparent, regulatory-compliant (CERT-In 6h) | 4h initial; 24h detailed |
| Competitor PR attack | Don't engage publicly; correct in 1:1 | 24-48h direct response only |
| Negative review going viral | Acknowledge publicly, address privately | 4h initial response |
| Product feature backlash | Hear, explain, commit to action | 24h leadership response |
13. Brand health monitoring
| Metric | Cadence | Tool | Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| Branded search volume | Monthly | Google Trends, GSC | Up 15% MoM |
| Brand mention sentiment | Weekly | Mention.com, Brand24 | 75%+ positive |
| Share of voice vs competitors | Quarterly | Similarweb, manual | Track top-3 |
| Brand awareness (recall) | Bi-annual | Survey, 200 respondents | 35% by Q4 FY26 |
| Net Promoter Score (customers) | Quarterly | Delighted | +50 |
| Glassdoor + LinkedIn employer brand | Monthly | Glassdoor | 4.2+ |
| Industry award shortlists | Annual | Manual | 4+ submissions |
